Definition of Lens Gender is uniquely portrayed in Finding Nemo. How are different genders portrayed in finding Nemo? How are females treated compared to men through out the movie? Are women given the same abilities of trust as men get?

Example of Lens There were no female sea turtles in the movie. This is bad because the sea turtles were portrayed as cool people. For example, Nemo always wanted to hear about sea turtles and the fact that they were really old. This offends females because kids looked up to them and that demonstrated that nobody looks up to females which is not true.

“What’s with it with men asking directions?” -Dory We find this quote offensive to all boys. We also find this very funny that a stupid person like Dory would say such a thing. She was the one who blacked out every second and forgot things like crazy! We don’t think that Dory was trying to mean this in an offensive way to boys but Marlin obviously did. He was very offended.

Nemo’s Mom Female. Protective With Babies. Women always need something to care for so they are not just swimming around, and have a “job”. Very brave, shows that her “job” is to protect the babies.

Dory Female. Always Getting Into Trouble. Bad Memory. Always Needing Men To Help Her. Ex. When Dory says: “I have never been so long with a person before” That shows how women are supposed to be annoying, and always needing someone to be with.

Marlin Father is protective when Nemo gets in trouble. Father thinks Nemo is less-useful because of his bad fin. Marlin thinks Nemo is dead when he doesn’t find him. When Marlin doesn’t find Nemo he stresses out and takes it out on Dory.

Conclusion In this presentation you might have noticed that this movie is very sexist. Actually most Disney movies are. Gender can be portrayed very differently by people, but most Disney movies are pretty much the same. The men are strong and the women are weak and less important than men are. This is portrayed in most Disney movies, including Finding Nemo.
