How can we help our colleagues? Be sure to read the directions carefully as directions may have more than one part If the directions say explain, make sure students know how to explain If it says to show or illustrate, be sure to do so. Be sure students are accustomed to having rubrics with examples of passing work or failing work applied to them. Never leave an open ended answer blank as there is the chance to receive partial credit Intentionally create opportunities for students to experience deep learning in your class, such as multi-step problems, follow-up questions, justification of answers, etc. Use your decoding skills for words that you don’t understand
