Ski Trip 2018 Parent Information Welcome Thank you for supporting the ski trip and attending this meeting. There is a lot of information therefore presentation slides will be sent to your email address and/or made available on the school website following this evening. Please ensure that you have completed all forms and handed them to a member of staff upon arrival. Some spare copies are available if required. There will be an opportunity to ask questions following the presentations. If you need to speak with a member of staff confidentially then please wait behind at the end of the meeting. We aim to finish by 8pm.

Ski Trip 2018 Parent Information Passport and EHIC It is your responsibility to ensure that the passport and EHIC are valid. Passport (6 months still in date) European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) Please enclose both passport and EHIC into the white envelope provided – hand in to Mr Murphy at lunchtime meeting on Thursday 7 December in Old Gym (PE Dept)* *If passport is required over holiday period please see me for alternative arrangements

Ski Trip 2018 Parent Information Valuables/Money We encourage pupils not to bring expensive phones or any other items of value such as jewellery, watches and no ipads/tablets. Entertainment is scheduled for each evening. Lost/stolen reports – time consuming process which will result in loss of enjoyment for all involved Spending money will be the responsibility of pupils at all times during the trip – small amount required (sterling/euros)

Room/Group Allocation Ski Trip 2018 Parent Information Room/Group Allocation Pupils have selected their own rooming arrangements – no changes at this point Groups – pupils will be organised into smaller groups for the duration of the trip – meeting points at airports, morning registration etc. Staff will lead a group of approx 8-10 pupils These groups may be different to the ones they are skiing with during the lessons

Ski Trip 2018 Parent Information Medical Conditions Consent forms should clearly state any/all medical conditions – please update school immediately if anything changes Pupils will be responsible for any travel sickness medication Pupils must carry any medication needed in hand luggage but please ensure this meets airline regulations – 100ml stored in sealable/clear bags. Check EasyJet website for further details. Medication will then be handed to member of staff clearly stating name of pupil and dosages.

Ski Trip 2018 Parent Information Emergencies Snow Care Insurance with onsite medical expertise and East Renfrewshire Council Insurance as part of all risk assessment Emergency contact details provided, however, strongly encourage pupils to approach staff for any pastoral issues – this allows any minor/major issues to be resolved in a timely fashion Prevention – listening to and following instructions such as keeping to meeting points/times imperative

Ski Trip 2018 Parent Information Other Information Pupils have a ‘ski fit’ programme (booklet issued)to follow which will help them to enjoy the physical demands of skiing. Final email/correspondence will be sent in advance of departure School Twitter will be updated as regularly as possible @mearnshigh Hoodies – please identify appropriate size with initial next to your child’s name(no additional cost). Hoodies to be worn travelling to/from Italy.
