What is a short story? an invented prose narrative shorter than a novel usually dealing with a few characters and aiming at unity of effect and often concentrating on the creation of mood rather than plot.

What will we be looking for in his stories? Setting (time and place) Characterization (character traits) Plot (what happens?) Dialogue (conversation between characters) Narration (who is telling the story and how?) Figurative language MOOD (creates certain feelings and vibes in readers)
Mood This is the atmosphere of a text It is created through: Setting Theme (main message of the text) Tone (the narrator/speaker’s attitude towards the subject) Diction (word choice)
