Outline Magnet test campaign at the start of YETS Magnet patrol HV test of main magnets Planning of test period – week 50/2017 Magnet maintenance activities Magnet exchanges Standard maintenance LIU activities aC coating Other (co-)activities J. Bauche, TE-MSC, 08/11/2017
Inspection “Magnet Patrol” (IMPACT 102490) Magnet test campaign Inspection “Magnet Patrol” (IMPACT 102490) To detect coil movements in main magnets and transfer line quadrupoles Removal of the magnet covers Audio-visual inspection in pulsed mode Machine conditions Machine closed to non-MNC personnel during tests (coord. with Carb Cavity) All technical services shall stay available and operational (Electrical network, main magnet converters, cooling, interlocks, access) Access system in «Magnet Patrol» mode Support from other groups BE/OP to power the magnets and lock the accesses All other teams ready to intervene in case of system/service failure (EPC, EL, MPE, ICS, CV, etc…) J. Bauche, TE-MSC, 08/11/2017
High voltage tests (+ delta I) (IMPACT 102490) Magnet test campaign High voltage tests (+ delta I) (IMPACT 102490) To detect weaknesses in main magnet circuits insulation Main dipoles and quadrupoles (962 units) Busbars and water cooled cables are tested together with the magnets! Machine conditions Machine closed, in dedicated configuration (CIS system of EPC) Cooling circuits running Separation of power converters from load Test +/- 6kV on dipole and +/- 4 kV on quadrupole circuits, from BA3 In case of failure, localization in the machine, repair, and re-test Support from other groups TE/EPC for CIS configuration + HV test bench BE/OP for access control J. Bauche, TE-MSC, 08/11/2017

Bauche, TE-MSC, 08/11/2017
Preventive / corrective exchange of main magnets Magnet system maintenance Preventive / corrective exchange of main magnets (IMPACT 102493) Expected around 10 main magnets to be replaced Based on inspection campaign results Aperture restrictions to be considered Machine conditions Free access to material lift and passage for transport equipment Support from other groups EN/HE, TE/VSC, EN/ACE/SU Inputs from BE/OP for aperture restrictions Planning to be discussed with coordination (BA3 lift revamping…) Main magnet replacement J. Bauche, TE-MSC, 08/11/2017
Magnet system maintenance Magnet general maintenance (IMPACT 102488) Corrective/preventive maintenance Repair of magnets non-conformities in-situ Busbar system inspection Machine conditions Activities transparent for other teams Support from other groups None Activity distributed over the whole YETS, ending with the most radioactive zones Broken pole shim Water leak J. Bauche, TE-MSC, 08/11/2017
aC coating and Impedance Reduction (IMPACT to be issued by VSC) LIU activities aC coating and Impedance Reduction (IMPACT to be issued by VSC) Magnets removal / reinstallation followed by MSC Details in TE-VSC presentation (https://indico.cern.ch/event/670978/) MBB 51470, 51530 and 51550 aC treated in-situ QF SSS 512 and 514, and QD SSS 515 will be dismantled and aC treated ex-situ QD 51510 will be aC treated ex-situ or replaced by pre-coated spare All removed magnets will be disconnected on 21/12/2017 Machine conditions Free access to material lift and passage for transport equipment Support from other groups EN/HE, TE/VSC, EN/ACE/SU Planning following VSC request and SPS coordination J. Bauche, TE-MSC, 08/11/2017
Other activities Prototype fire door installation around MBA.41570 MSC support will be provided if needed Installation of TPSWA.21602 (ZS diffuser) MSC support for SSS girder modification and MDVA.21604 Lift maintenance BA1and BA2 on 20th December Date foreseen not compatible with HV test (CIS configuration) to be modified BA3 goods lift revamping from 16th January Impacts on possibility to transport magnets via BA3 for magnet replacement campaign complete campaign in 6 days or transport via BA6 J.
