   “It’s About Time”  is a PWEA Member directed initiative to call attention to the ever increasing work load that is negatively impacting students and staff.  IEP Meetings Data Meetings PLC Meetings Faculty Meetings Department Meetings

Our Planning Time Educator planning time is being superseded with data analysis, data reporting, and filling in as substitutes instead of being able to plan lessons for student success. Paperwork overload impedes the ability to spend the time needed to help students learn and grow. Support staff are given unreasonable workload expectations, making it nearly impossible to complete the duties in the time allotted.

Our Flex Time Staff are afforded two flex days apart from the academic year in order to fulfill their contract. This time is intended for them to attend professional development, set up classrooms, or complete extra work that can’t be done during their work time. Flex days should be employee driven and not administrator mandated! .

Our Teacher Workday Time Instructional Staff and Specialists are given one workday a quarter to complete grades and paperwork, and plan for lessons or other duties. Often the workdays are taken over by staff meetings or mandatory professional development chosen by the administrator or department. Let the staff complete their work on the work day!

Our Teacher Workday Time “Its About Time” Mark your calendars to join us on Wednesday April 20, 2016 at the KLC to stand in unity, as we share our stories and concerns with the School Board on how our time, formerly spent planning and with students, has become almost extinct. There is no financial cost for these requests. We are not asking for money, only time. Time that will be used to plan and to meet the academic and emotional needs of our students.
