We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.

Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

James 1:14–15 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

How do you tell who is clothed with the Lord Jesus and who isn’t?

Move away from darkness and put on the armor of light.

Galatians 3:27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Put on a new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

Be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.

Colossians 3:10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

Ephesians 4:22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.
