1. What are the two basic categories of laws? Criminal law and civil law.

The group of laws that define what acts are crimes. 2. What is criminal law? The group of laws that define what acts are crimes.

The group of laws that refer to disputes between people. 3. What is civil law? The group of laws that refer to disputes between people.

4. How do both laws limit and guarantee freedom? They do not give people freedom to act in ways that would hurt other people’s freedom.

5. How are common law and constitutional law similar? Both depend on courts and judges’ decisions.

6. How are statutory law and administrative law different? Statutory laws is passed by lawmaking bodies while administrative law is created by government agencies.

7. What are five sources of law? Statutory law, common law, administrative law, military law, constitutional law.
