THEIA: Goddess of Sight and Heavenly Light By: Shyla D

Quick Facts As legion tells, Theia is the Greek goddess of sight and heavenly light AND the mother of the sun, moon, and the dawn

Theia is said to be the daughter of Gaia, the goddess of the earth and Uranus, the god of the sky She is the eldest out of her other siblings including: Hyperion: god of the sun Themis: goddess of order Mnemosyne: goddess of memory Rhea: wife to Cronus Cronus: husband to Rhea Oceanus: god of the river Okeanos Tethys: married Oceanus Lapetus: god of craftmanship Krios: God of constellations Phoebe: married to Coeus Coeus: married to Phoebe

Tying the knot? Theia, like many other goddesses, marries her brother Hyperion, the god of light. Together they had three children who were… Helios (the sun) Selene (the moon) Eos (the dawn)

Her Story ? ? Theia took the Titans side in the Battle of the Titans, “a war that was fought between the first primeval gods of Ancient Greece and the gods and goddesses who would become known as the Olympians”.

Imprisonment?! BYE BYE!

The Story Continues…. Come with me my children Where are we?

What happened? Uranus, the father of the titans and Theia, was scared that his own, very powerful children were capable of rebelling against him. To solve this problem and theory of his, he gathered all of the children and hurled them into the dark abyss of Tartarus. Gaia, the mother of the titans, helped them escape the abyss and Cronus, upset with his fathers actions, overthrew him. This is what led to the War of The Titans.
