Title of Your Project Your Name

Statement of the Problem Type your question here. Avoid a “yes” or “no” question.

Project Overview Summarize your project in approximately 4-6 sentences. Include why you took an interest in this topic.

Research Summarize your research here in about 5 bullet points. List several important facts. 1st bullet point 2nd bullet point 3rd bullet point 4th bullet point 5th bullet point

Hypothesis State what you predict will happen. Don’t forget to use the “If _____, then _____” format (it’s a cause and effect).

Independent and Dependent Variables Independent variable: the one thing you are purposely changing. Dependent variable: the change measured or observed because of the independent variable. It is measurable and should be measured using the metric system when applicable.

Controlled Variables/Constants Controlled variable/s (constant): the thing/s you kept the same throughout the experiment.

Materials Type a specific list of the items you need to conduct your experiment. Be specific about the amounts used and make sure it’s in metric units (cm, mL, etc.). You must be specific in case someone wants to recreate your experiment. Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 And so on…

Procedures Make a detailed list of all the steps you took to conduct your experiment. Anyone should be able to recreate your experiment by following your steps. You may use pictures as well. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 And so on…(you may need multiple slides)

Observations/Results Explain what you observed. Summarize what is happening with your experiment. Add photos of your experiment to accompany your summary. Don’t forget to state measurements in metric form, when applicable.

Data: Table of Results It is easier to understand the data if it is put into a table. You can create the table using Word or Excel and import it into the presentation.

Graph of Results (modify this chart through PowerPoint or import your own from Word or Excel) Label the y-axis with your dependent variable Label the x-axis with your independent variable

Conclusion Restate your hypothesis. Explain whether your data supports your hypothesis. Explain why or why not.

Analysis of the Experiment What did you learn? How could you improve this experiment? How could this information be applied to the real world or useful to someone else in the future?
