What is a Student Council? A Student Council is a representative structure for students only, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students.  

Why join? To promote a positive school culture To be a leader at your school To model what a good citizen does-care for others, care for the school, care for self To make a lasting mark on your school To prepare for future leadership roles

Qualifications/Requirements Currently a 5th grade student Passing grades with a GPA of 3.0 or above Acceptable citizenship as deemed by your teacher’s citizenship requirement 1 minute oral presentation Attendance with an adult family member at one of our two LCAP Forums 10/3 or 3/15. Help with school programs (promote spirit days, organize community outreach, campus beautification, help office in the beginning of the year.

Oral Presentation To include in your presentation: Name and parent signature that parent read and approved your presentation notes What you hope to accomplish as a student representative 2 actions Why you want to be class representative 3 supporting reasons Do no promise any treat/prize/gift for votes! If a presentation hints/jokes about a treat/prize/gift for votes you will be automatically disqualified

Rules You may be removed from Student Council if: Drop in grades at progress/trimester report below 3.0 Mark below an “S” for citizenship Administrative referral resulting in violation of Education Codes Discretion of liason teacher and administrators based on documented poor behavior choices
