What are the changes? GCSE Mathematics 2016: What’s changed? There will now be 3 exams Each is 1 hour 30 minutes and out of 80. Paper 1 Non calculator Paper 2 Calculator Paper 3 Calculator All 3 papers are equally weighted.
Assessment tiers There will be a new 9-1 grading system, replacing A* - G There will be Foundation and Higher tier examination Foundation will cover 1 – 5 grades Higher will cover 4 – 9 grades Foundation 50% key grades (4/5) and 50% mastering the basics (1-3) Higher 50% mastery of basics (4-6) 50% sustained challenge at the top end (7-9)
