Debbie Devore Computing Labs Manager Warner College of Natural Resources Computer Classroom UTFAB Proposal February 25th, 2016 Debbie Devore Computing Labs Manager

Three Main Reasons To Update WCNR Computing Labs Enrollment expected to increase as much as 70% in certain classes over the next 1-5 years Undergraduates may need to extend their expected graduation date Potential for future instructors wanting a flipped or collaborative style classroom

Overtaxed Labs Students often need to double up at computers Students with laptops sit in aisle which is against fire code Projection is hard to see from back of lab Roughly 20% of our GIS courses taught in the labs are non-WCNR students

WCNR contributions Old curtain was torn down and replaced with a new wall Carpet was replaced Staff desk was replaced to make room for more seating Computers and printers are supplied Part time staff provided during all open lab hours Full time computer lab manager

New wall provides soundproof classrooms Staff desk was taken out to provide room for additional seating Old curtain wasn’t soundproof Allows for larger classroom by opening wall

UTFAB funds would be used to help update the existing computer lab A proposal is also being presented to UFFAB to replace existing furniture with updated furniture that could potentially be used to allow for a more flipped or collaborative type computer classroom.

Thank you for your consideration! Questions?
