What is Childhood Obesity?

The Issue Parents are key Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Childhood obesity affects approximately 12.5 million children and teens (2011). U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has found that overweight children have a 70% chance of becoming overweight or obese as adults.

Factor Contributors Parents are often unaware Poor eating habits Inactive lifestyle Media Exposure

Physical & Emotional Consequences Health problems Psychological effects Bullying Eating disorders According to Williams & Alexander, if nothing is done to deal with the emotional consequences of CO, by 2040 there could be a rise in depression, social isolation and rejection, suicide, personality disorders and other mental problems (2011).
