LEA Parent Representatives Meeting Parental Involvement School Visitation Interview Questions LEA Parent Representatives Meeting

School Interview Team Two ACIP Committee Parents One of the two ACIP Parents will serve as your LEA representative on March 29, 2017 @ 8:30 a.m. Two Students (Middle and High School)

Document/Process Review Review signed parent/teacher/student compacts. Bring Title I File with Compacts for Review to meeting (if portable) or ALSDE will need access to file to review compacts. Classroom rosters needed to ensure each student has a compact on file. ALSDE may visit classrooms to see teacher set of compacts. Do school-parent compacts include the following: The school name Required signatures The 3 main sections: School, Parent, and Student Important: The School Section MUST include the 5 components.

Does the school: Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities? Parent Volunteer log available Baseline Data Report (Facilitator) Provide parents access to the CIP? Where is it kept? How is it made accessible to parents?

What training is offered to parents throughout the year? How does the school assist teachers in working with parents to increase student achievement? (i.e. Partner with Parents Conferences, grade level meetings, weekly folders, parent/teacher conferences, in-services, faculty meetings/training, Central Office “For Parents” website etc.) Discuss how you schedule various parental involvement activities and meetings.

Did your school hold a meeting at the beginning of the year for all Title I parents? What kinds of things were discussed at the meeting? 2. What does it mean to be a Title I school? 3. Describe how your district and/or school communicates with you. Can you understand the information you receive? 4. Are you familiar with the 1% Set-Aside for parent involvement? Did you have the opportunity to be involved in how this money is allocated and spent? What are some ways that your school is using its parent involvement funds? What about your school system (LEA Initiatives)? 5. Were any of you involved in the development of your school system’s Parent Involvement Plan? Did you receive a copy of the plan?

6. Were any of you involved in the annual evaluation of your school system’s Parent Involvement Plan (Surveys)? 7. CIP: Are you familiar with the term CIP? Did you have the opportunity to be involved or give input on your school’s CIP or your school’s Parent Involvement Plan? Did you receive a copy of the Parent Involvement Section of the CIP (the school’s Parent Involvement Plan)? 8. Are you familiar with the School-Parent Compact? 9. Were you notified that you have the right to request the qualifications of your child’s teachers? When did you receive this notice? 10. Were any of you notified this year that your child is being taught by a teacher who has not yet met highly qualified requirements?

NOTE: The ALSDE asked that one parent representative from each Title I school be in attendance at the LEA parent meeting on Wednesday, March 29 at 8:30 a.m. in the board room. If you did not submit the name of a parent representative (January 19, 2017 Principal Packet), please do so today.
