Header Changes Applications Menu for External Links The ConnectingOntario ClinicalViewer header has been changed to include a drop-down list of available links rather than a list across the top Hovering over the Applications icon will display the options Clicking an item will open a new browser tab or window Clicking the menu icon will hide the options

Data Summary Update Medications Portlet – Dispensed Medications A Dispensed Medications tab has been added to the Data Summary This tab contains a link to the MOHLTC’S website which outlines the information available within the Digital Health Drug Repository The OLIS tab has been renamed to Lab and Pathology Results and contains a link to list of contributing sites Click for hyperlink

Enhanced Protection of Personal Health Information MRNs and Associated Organizations removed from Patient Search Results, Patient Banner and My Workspace ClinicalViewer will no longer display the patient MRN and organization name of organizations where the patient received health services Health card number and the associated province will display instead

Enhanced Protection of Personal Health Information MRNs and Associated Organizations removed from Patient Search Results, Patient Banner and My Workspace Patient Banner My Workspace

Medications Portlet Dispensed Medications Tab Displays information from the provincial Digital Health Drug Repository (DHDR) for Ontarians with an Ontario Health Number For information about DHDR visit www.ontario.ca/mydruginfo and Information Available to Health Care Providers through the Digital Health Drug Repository Refer to Medications portlet (DHDR) education resources for the information end-users need to know prior to accessing DHDR: www.ehealthontario.on.ca/en/support/connecting-ontario

Medications Portlet Dispensed Medications Tab Medications portlet behaves as other portlets in ClinicalViewer More columns display in the summary list view or individual portlet view Dispensed Date (reverse chronological) is used for the default sorting order Standard Consent Directive and Override messages appear when directive is in place Sort and Filter is available on all columns The Drug Utilization Review (DUR) icon is displayed next to the name of any drug that has DUR information List of medications for the selected period can be printed from the individual portlet or summary list view using the Print icon

Medications Portlet Dispensed Medications Tab All users who override a consent directive in DHDR are required to print a hard-copy express consent form and, after obtaining informed consent, obtain a signature from the patient or substitute decision maker The required consent form is available within the Consent Override Dialogue Box and Applications Menu

Enhanced Clinical Views Changes to Navigation Bar ClinicalViews have been enhanced and improved to provide a better ability to access views and create custom views Action icons have been added to the function bar: Add, Edit, Copy, Delete, and Set as default The navigation bar has been renamed to Patient Care Views The standard Clinical Views are now called Shared Views Action icons for the Shared Views are: Add to My Views and Set as default Any of the My Views or the Shared Views can be set as your preferred default Patient Care View .

Enhanced Clinical Views (continued) Changes to Navigation Bar Creating and modifying a custom view has been simplified and improved Available components can be dragged and dropped into a single column or a triple column layout New pre-defined icons can be used to identify custom views Existing custom views in R8 will not carry over into R9.1 These will need to be re-created. Refer to “How to Personalize Your View” tip sheet.

Enhanced Clinical Views (continued) Creating Custom Views A custom view can now be created and modified from a Shared View A Shared View is selected and then duplicated The duplicate appears in the My Views panel and can be customized Existing custom views in R8 will not carry over into R9.1. These will need to be re-created. Refer to “How to Personalize Your View” tip sheet.

Access Enhancements Logging off Users are required to log out from the ClinicalViewer for privacy and security purposes If a user navigates away from the ClinicalViewer without properly logging out, the session will terminate within a few seconds. In this case, if the back button is used, the ConnectingOntario Logout page displays as if the session has been terminated Multiple browser windows – if the ClinicalViewer is opened in a new internet tab or window within the same type of browser, all instances will be logged out (or timed out) simultaneously

Performance Enhancements Data Caching When a view is changed and timeline is maintained, information will load from the cache within a 10-minute cache period rather than a query being reissued E.g., changing from Summary View to the Documents/Notes View (individual Portlet) will not result in a new query being issued if timeline is not changed The cache is tied to the current user session, current patient, current time range, and current consent override state. If any of these change, then the cache is cleared Refreshing from the browser will cause a reload from the cache Refreshing the timelines or using the refresh button on an individual portlet (now available on all portlets) results in a new query being issued
