UK City of Culture Awarded every 5 years by Dept. for Culture, Media and Sport Past winners are Derry-Londonderry (2013) and Hull (2017) Other cities bidding for 2021 are Paisley, Coventry, Stoke on Trent, Hereford and Sunderland Winning area will deliver a high quality cultural programme, building on local strengths and reaching a wide audience Significant social and economic benefits to winning area A catalyst for regeneration and contributes to community cohesion and health and wellbeing.

Timeline 28th April 2017: Initial bid submitted June 2017: Decision on shortlist September 2017: Full and final bid submission December 2017: Winner announced
Progress so far.. Media launch of Perth 2021 in August 2016 Community Launch Day in November 2016 1800 feedback surveys completed. Info will be used to inform initial bid and develop the programme. Creative Communities Fund launched Search for ‘Perth Pioneers’ underway Schools engagement programme
