Volume 373, Issue 9679, Pages 1958-1965 (June 2009) Effectiveness of thigh-length graduated compression stockings to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis after stroke (CLOTS trial 1): a multicentre, randomised controlled trial    The Lancet  Volume 373, Issue 9679, Pages 1958-1965 (June 2009) DOI: 10.1016/S0140-6736(09)60941-7 Copyright © 2009 Elsevier Ltd Terms and Conditions

Figure 1 Trial profile The number screened for eligibility was not collected. GCS=graduated compression stockings. CDU=compression Doppler ultrasound. LMWH=low-molecular-weight heparin. Figure 2 Frequency of the primary outcome by allocated treatment in the three prespecified subgroups The figure shows the point estimates of the odds ratio (adjusted for baseline factors) for each subgroup as a square (with size proportional to the amount of information) and the horizontal line depicts the 95% CIs. The open diamond indicates the adjusted odds ratio with 95% CI for all patients enrolled. The vertical line, at the odds ratio of unity, corresponds to the line of no effect. Odds ratio values of less than unity correspond to a reduction in the primary outcome with graduated compression stockings (GCS). p values are for the interaction between the treatment effect and the subgroup. Patients who died without previous deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and those without either Doppler are excluded from the denominators, which are therefore different to the total number allocated to each treatment group.
