Objectives Gain an understanding of what is required in A2 ICT Start researching an organisation to help you with the theory part of the course Start thinking about a suitable client for your project

Structure of A2 You will study 2 units – INFO3 and INFO4 Theory part of the course assessed by a 2 hour exam Worth 60% of second year Topics Covered: Organisations – structure Information and Systems Managing ICT ICT Strategies and Policies Legislation Developing ICT Solutions Development Methods Techniques and Tools for Systems Development Introducing Larg ICT Systems into Organisations Training and Supporting Users External and Internal Resources Practical Project - coursework Worth 40% of second year You need: A real client Carry out an investigation into their current system and problems Come up with a solution – could be database/training materials/ICT Policy/

INFO3 Task – This work is to be completed during the last few weeks of the summer term and over the summer holidays, see p. 4 - 6 of A2 Course Handbook   Choose an organisation you want to investigate. It needs to be a medium size or large size organisation that employs over 20 people.   

You will need to find out the following information from the organisation, some may be available on their website otherwise you may need to contact them to ask them for it:   1. A diagram showing the organisation’s structure; 2. The type of organisation; 3. A list of departments (functions) within the organisation; 4. Information systems they use and what they are used for; 5. Two examples of their policies – i.e. Health and Safety policy, Security Policy, Data Protection policy, returns policy Put your information into a presentation (PowerPoint or Prezi) for when you start back in September
