Green Dewitt 1787-1835 Bio: Born in Kentucky; considered 2nd most influential empresario after SFA Settlement info: Originally denied a land grant by the Mexican Government Problems: was accused of mishandling monies but was exonerated after being accused of mishandling public money; awarded an empresario grant to settle 400 Anglos Started out successful but due to Mex. Government he didn’t make the number needed; therefore failure

Hayden Edwards 1771-1849 Bio: Came from US to be a land agent; very temperamental which leads to issues with Mexico Settlement: Settled in the Nacogdoches area Problems: Wouldn’t listen to Mexican officials so was fired from being an empresario; created his own country “Fredonia” which leads to rebellion; Sold land that was not his, but the original settlers Failure
