WHAT IS Msusy? I am grateful to the Organisers for this title! I understand it reflects certain frustration….

Mh=125 GeV What has changed on the data side? Stop > 0. 5 TeV 1&2nd > 1.5 TeV GLUINO > (1.2 -1.5) TeV Mh=125 GeV

What could have been really realisticly expected? WHAT CAN WE EXPECT NOW, AFTER LHC 8? LESSONS FOR UV MODEL BUILDING

Parameter

AMALDI, de BOER, FURSTENAU ‘91 GAUGE COUPLING UNIFICATION AMALDI, de BOER, FURSTENAU ‘91

Superpartner mass mass dependence can be described (in LL approx) by a single effective parameter Tsusy CARENA, SP, WAGNER ‘93 A HINT FOR EITHER HEAVY OR COMPRESSED SPECTRUM BECAUSE…

A HINT FOR EITHER HEAVY O(1) TeV OR COMPRESSED SPECTRUM For instance, for universal gaugino masses at the GUT scale A HINT FOR EITHER HEAVY O(1) TeV OR COMPRESSED SPECTRUM

AFTER LEP, IT HAS BEEN ALWAYS O(1) TEV SCALE FOR THE 3rd GENERATION

Mh=125 GeV PRE-LHC LANDSCAPE PRECISION FITS IN THE SM (ESSENTIALLY APPLICABLE to MSSM) LEP LIMIT INDUSTRY TO GET MORE THAN 130 (NMSSM, SPLIT SUSY, NEW PARTICLES…)

= 3 LESSONS FROM BEST FOR THE HIGGS MASS: „ MAXIMAL MIXING” WE ARE BOTHERED BY ABOUT O(5 GeV) „TOO HIGH” MASS IN MSSM WITH Msusy=1 TeV, LARGE LEFT-RIGHT STOP „MIXING” NEEDED (BETTER POSITIVE THAN NEGATIVE) NMSSM?

NMSSM AS A SOURCE OF O(5 GeV) CORRECTION? MIXING EFFECTS (BADZIAK, OLECHOWSKI,SP) MEDIUM AND LARGE

THIS IS WHY ONE NEEDS HEAVY STOPS IN CMSSM BACK TO MSSM BEST FOR THE HIGGS MASS: „ MAXIMAL MIXING” GENERIC PREDICTION IN CMSSM: THIS IS WHY ONE NEEDS HEAVY STOPS IN CMSSM

EXPLANATION: RG RUNNING FROM GUT

IN HIGH SCALE SUPERSYMMETRY BREAKING MODELS THREE WAYS TO GET „MAXIMAL MIXING” IN THE MSSM LARGE in GENERALIZED LOW SCALE GAUGE MEDIATION ( ROBERT ZIEGLER CAN SAY MORE) IN HIGH SCALE SUPERSYMMETRY BREAKING MODELS 2) (CMSSM, NUHM, SO(10)) STUART RABY, HOWIE BAER TALK

THE HIGH SCALE ( CAN BE SMALL OR EVEN ZERO), 3) WITH INVERTED HIERARCHY FOR SFERMION MASSES AT THE HIGH SCALE ( CAN BE SMALL OR EVEN ZERO), (BADZIAK ET AL., NILLES ET AL.) AS A CONSEQUENCE OF 2 LOOP EFFECTS IN BOTH CASES ONE OBTAINS INVERTED HIERARCHY AT THE ELECTROWEAK SCALE! MAXIMAL MIXING INVERTED HIERARCHY ?

HINTS FOR INVERTED SFERMION MASS HIERARCHY ALSO FROM FLAVOUR PHYSICS

WITH FLAVOUR U(2) GLOBAL SYMMETRY EARLY PAPERS : WITH FLAVOUR U(2) GLOBAL SYMMETRY 3rd generation of sfermions can be light, 1st and 2nd can be heavier, to reconcile naturalness with FCNC constraints Dine, Leigh, Kagan ’93 Pomarol, Tommasini ’95 Barbieri, Davali, Hall ’96 Barbieri, Hall, Romanino ’97

WITH ANOMALOUS U(1) (GAUGED) FLAVOUR SYMMETRY Fermion mass model-motivated „inverted hierarchy” of sfermion spectrum (follows from fermion hierarchy) Dudas, SP, Savoy ’95 Dudas, Grojean, SP, Savoy ’96 Nelson, Wright ’97 F-TERM AND D-TERM CONTRIBUTION TO SFERMION MASSES; TWO SCALES IF D-TERM SUPERSYMMETRY BREAKING

O(1) TeV stops and inverted hierarchy in the sfermion spectrum? LET’S BE AMBITIOUS AND TRY TO EXPLAIN THE FERMION MASS SPECTRUM New sources of FCNC and CP violation are controlled by the proposed theory of fermion masses; FCNC problem is usually substantially ameliorated. O(1) TeV stops and inverted hierarchy in the sfermion spectrum? 4

„GOOD” FERMION MASS MODELS HINT TO INVERTED SFERMION MASS HIERARCHY, IF STOPS ARE TO REMAIN LIGHT SU(2)xU(1) DUDAS, von GERSDORFF, SP, ZIEGLER D-TERM MASS SPLITTING BETWEEN SFERMION FAMILIES AT HIGH SCALE

UV PICTURE STRUCTUREFUL SOFT TERMS AT UV ? SEVERAL SCALES?

MODELS FOR STRUCTUREFUL SOFT TERMS AT UV SEVERAL SOURCES OF SUPERSYMMETRY BREAKING SINGLET AND NON-SINGLET F-TERMS (CHARGED UNDER SM AND/OR FLAVOUR GAUGE GROUPS) GRAVITY + ANOMALY MEDIATION (COMPRESSED GAUGINO SPECTRUM-GAUGE COUPLING UNIFICATION, NILLES ET AL GEOMETRICAL SEQUESTERING- INVERTED HIERARCHY D-TERM BREAKING

SUMMARY AFTER LHC 8 Msusy (DEFINED AS THE AVERAGE STOP MASS) CAN WELL STILL BE AROUND 1 TeV. INVERTED HIERARCHY IN SFERMION MASSES AT THE ELECTROWEAK SCALE SUGGESTED BY THE HIGGS MASS AND FLAVOUR HINTS FOR SOME STRUCTURES IN SOFT TERMS UV COMPLETIONS CAN EASILY ACCOMODATE SUCH STRUCTURES

END

Precision of the FCNC and CP violation data leaves little room for new effects from physics BSM. With anarchical flavour structure, for one gets

E.g. K-K mixing suppression scale loop factor U - CKM matrix 3

MAIN MESSAGE FROM THE LHC ON THE SUSY SPECTRUM: LIMITS ON THE GLUINO MASS? IT FEEDS UP INTO SEVERAL OTHER „PLACES” FCNC (EASED) RG RUNNING IN UV COMPLETIONS
