Sometimes things that happen in the world can make us sad, anxious or confused. It's important to remember that upsetting stories are in the news because they are rare - they don't happen very often. Terrorist attacks are rare and it is highly unlikely that something like this will happen here in our school, or to anyone we know. Terrorist attacks are often confusing. It may take a long time for investigators to find out what really happened. News from sources we trust such as the BBC will report the facts , news from our friends and social media may not be accurate.

There have been three attacks in the UK recently, two in London and one in Manchester. Some people died and many people were injured. There are people in this world who do bad things, and we do not have the answers to explain why. They want to get their point of view across, they believe it is right. Terrorism is an act that is meant to make people feel terror ( scared) and they do very bad things to make this happen.

Terrorists sometimes say they represent a particular group or community of people. Questions? • Do all the people in that group believe that what this person did was right? • Do all the people in that group have the same opinions or believe the same things as the person who carried out the terrorist attack? • Are there any people in our community who may be feeling afraid or anxious at the moment? • What can we do to make sure that everyone in our school community feels supported and safe? • How can we help our community stay strong together?

Is the world a bad place or a good place? The Choice of Peace. We do not like………………………….. We like………………………… The Choice of Peace. Who keeps us safe in the UK? Who keeps us safe in school?

We remain silent for one minute to pray for: the injured people and those who died in the recent terror attacks. (silence for one minute) We ask you to guide us with wisdom, compassion and tolerance to work in a world of peace. Lord in your mercy… We pray for peace among nations, peace among people and peace within our hearts and communities.

What a wonderful world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddLd0QRf7Vg
