Target Audience: Adil Tshibambi

What is a audience? Audience are individual who support or gravitate towards a product, performance, and/or content. For example, in a football stadium, the crowd are the audience. A audience can be of any age, gender, race, origin, religion and many more categories. Television programs broadcast their show to be watched by a audience, musicians perform towards a audience, any form of sport has a audience, make up products has a audience. People who are engaged, connected.

What is a target audience? Target audience are people who gravitate towards your product. For example, if I was marketing a educational book covering History. The target audience will be those who are willing extend their knowledge on history, this may be: students, historians, or even teachers. Another example, if I was promoting a magazine with all the cheat codes for consoles, my target audience will be those engaged with consoles and are eager to use cheat codes. You must be wary particular content wont resonate nor be appropriate for a young or elderly audience, so therefore some content include age rating. Also, this principle applies for genders: some make up magazines read “girls”, so therefore they are informing consumers which gender this product is aimed towards. Below I have bullet pointed a range of what target audiences could based upon: Age Gender Location Race Personal interests Employment Class Religious belief

Why does target audience matter? You must ensure you are aware of the target audience that your product is aimed towards in order for it be successful. If I was advertising a magazine containing what only the youth are familiar with to a elder demographic, this will be not a calculated, successful movement as the elderly audience will feel out their comfort zone purchasing this product. However, it will make sense advertising this product towards the youth as there’s more of a chance they’ll gravitate towards the product appose to the elderly demographic. Knowing about your target audience is a cornerstone. The logic of promoting a magazine targeted towards males with pink, glitter font is not the best of ways. Studying about target audience is a importance: it requires you doing primary research, such as questionnaires. Supplying questionnaires to my class really impacted, and benefited towards the group task of inventing a magazine as I now know certain elements which the youth admire.
