What are homographs?

Homographs are words that: - sound the same - are spelled the same - have a different meaning

bat and bat To play baseball you need a bat. A bat flies at night.

ball and ball We took the ball out to play. A fancy dance party is called a ball.

duck and duck A duck swims in the pond. We had to duck to get into the cave.

top and top The man climbed all the way to the top. A top is a toy that spins around and around.

lap and lap My dog likes to sit on my lap. You can run a lap on a track.

calf and calf A baby cow is called a calf. Your calf can hurt if you don’t stretch before you run.

watch and watch A watch helps you know the time. Even a baby likes to watch TV.
