MEAA EQUITY RATES

Live Performance Award Rates

Superannuation When paying an artist or production staff member more than $450 in a calendar month, by law they are entitled to superannuation. Contractors paid mainly for their labour are employees for superannuation guarantee purposes. This is the case even if the contractor quotes an Australian Business Number (ABN). For more information: https://www.ato.gov.au/business/super-for-employers/working-out-if-you-have-to-pay-super/contractors/

Workcover Workcover insurance – this protects your workers in case of accident/injury. It covers medical expenses and wages. As a sole trader you cannot cover yourself for Workcover. You need to cover employees if you pay over $7,500 per annum in wages. For more information: http://www.worksafe.vic.gov.au/insurance-and-premiums/worksafe-insurance/do-i-need-a-policy
