Presentation transcript:

The poster is for the band “Panic at the Disco” The poster is for the band “Panic at the Disco”. The band has just two members. The image is telling a story or making the viewer think about the band, and plays on the new album title being advertised in the poster “Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die”. The image of a man standing alone in the desert scrub outside a town. His American convertible car is parked in front of him. The desert may be around Las Vegas, Nevada from where the band originate. The image of the man, is this a band member? You can not see his face because he is looking back towards the town, the fact you can not see his face also adds to the sense of mystery. If one band member is in the picture which one? What has happened to the other band member? Has he been killed? The black suit suggests death and he has either just buried a body or is going to dig a grave, this is indicated by the shovel to the right of him. TARGET AUDIENCE The poster is to promote 4 facts: The band New single release New album to be released The music can be purchased from iTunes The lighting appears to be overall natural daylight. Some artificial side lighting might have been used to highlight a slightly crumpled suit of the man. The town in the distance is just slightly out of focus to give a strong impression of the town being close by, but unable to pick out any distinguishing buildings or advertising on the buildings. The colour tones are blue and earth colours. The image has several pieces of information. The band name is the predominant information, “Panic at the Disco” it has the largest text font and a more interesting font style, solid block with a drop relief effect in pale maroon. The second piece of information that catches your eye is the fact that the band has a new single. The text is in a smaller font, but similar dark colour as the font used for the band name, the actual title of the single “Miss Jackson” is written in a font similar to handwriting and in a smaller plain font the acknowledgement to another artist Lolo. The New album information placed immediately under the band name is not so prominent information, the font is in italics, and colour is a shade of maroon/pink that is a hue from the car in the picture, and the same colour used to give a relief effect to the bands name. The information about the album release date is also in the same font type and colour. There are no details about website addresses, but there is additional information such as the Apple iTunes logo and that displays that the music is available for download from iTunes. Also displayed are the two record labels used by the band to record and promote their music DECAYDANCE complete with D logo and FUELED BY RAMAN and the smile face logo in the bottom right hand of the poster, away from the main commercial information.

The main image is of the band member standing behind a small Honda Civic racing car. The poster includes the band logo of butterfly wings, these have been separated by bands name Paramore. Above the band logo is a smaller Honda logo and the car name Civic. The poster l T
