Project Overview Assembling the base frame using simple pick and place techniques Placing gears and wheels Inserting motors Aligning the gears so that they drive the other gears and wheels correctly Using Inventor Studio to create rendered images and an animation of your robot design

INTRODUCTION In this micro project you are going to produce a fully assembled VEX Clawbot. Once built, you will be able to: - render it using Image Studio - animate it to appear moving - modify it with different design solutions - personalise the VEX Inventor parts to add colour, design and improvement

Overview Video Key words: Programmable, environment, design, manufacturing and application

Autodesk Inventor Environment The Inventor environment has a number of key areas you need to know The application button Create new files The Ribbon The location of all tools needed for assembly Place button Import new parts of sub-assemblies ViewCube Grab with your cursor to navigate the view Navigation Bar Additional tools to help you adjust the view during assembly Browser A list of all the parts, in order of assembly, including all constraints. Graphic Display Where you conduct your assembly

LESSON 01

Video 1 Video Tasks: - Import parts - Free rotate parts - use iMates Key words: Programmable, environment, design, manufacturing and application

Video 2 Video Tasks: - Centre the assembly - Free rotate multiple parts - Mirror parts Key words: Programmable, environment, design, manufacturing and application

Video 3 Video Tasks: - Introduce sub assemblies - Use constraints - Add detailed fixings Key words: Programmable, environment, design, manufacturing and application

Plenary Using your Engineering Notebook Record what you have achieved today in your notebook. Include: - written descriptions of tasks completed - bullet pointed steps undertaken - parts brought in - sketches of processes and sub assemblies Sign off Get your teacher to sign off your notebook by the end of the lesson.

Summary Inventor Skills developed Learnt how to use the Inventor Environment Begun a new assembly Used iMates to create a base assembly of premade parts
