Old ethnographic villages, houses, traditional handicrafts Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden and Finland SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

SIMILARITIES Ancient houses were built from wood and mostly with straw roof. The ancient farmstead was very similar in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Bathhouse had the special role in all project countries. The viewing, pottering and smithery were recognized handicrafts in all project countries.

DIFFERENCES Bobbin lace was traditional craft in Sweden and Finland. In Lithuania there are a lot of wooden memorials: crosses, chapels and shrines. In Sweden there were popular hand painted wallpaper, painted walls and ceiling.
