Mrs. Morano’s Pre-K News Week of November 20, 2017 This week’s theme: Helpers in our community. Math ELA We continue to talk about the position words: above, below, between, next to, in front of and behind. Please continue to practice using these words at home with your child. Our trade book for the week was A Day In The Life Of A Firefighter by Heather Adamson. This non-fiction book shadowed one fireman for the whole day and explained some of the responsibilities a fireman has when he is not putting out fires. Our vocabulary words for the week were: bus driver, doctor, job, mail carrier, police officer, and teacher. Handwriting This week we are reviewing some of the letters we have previously learned. Science In Science we discussed how certain weather conditions can impact a community helper’s job. For example, how snow affects the mail carrier. Social Studies We continue to talk about Thanksgiving and why we are thankful! The school is participating in the Ty, Kelly & Chuck’s 100,000 Thank You Challenge to members of the military, Our class made cards and drawings on Monday to be sent along with the rest of the school for this wonderfully worthy cause! Religion . News & Reminders Please labels all jackets, sweaters, hats, gloves and scarves with your child’s name. There is NO EDP on Wednesday, November 22nd. There is NO Homework this week other than to enjoy family time together!  In Religion we learned that it is important to say “Thank You” to God as well as family and friends at Thanksgiving for all the good things we have. We made Thank You pictures for God and turkey handprint drawings for the children’s family Thanksgiving table. .
