More Important Information Who Built it? Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and Marcus Fulvius Nobilior constructed the Basilica Aemilia. Why was it built? The Basilica Aemilia was built to be used a large meeting space and a place for shops.
Use of the Basilica Aemilia There was a line of shops on one side of the Basilica called the Tabernae Novae Many of these shops were used for banking or selling luxury goods Money stains can still be seen on the floor Financial disputes may have also been settled in this particular Basilica
