The O'Brien test isperformed with the arm adducted to the front of the chest with the shoulderflexed 90° and the thumb pointed downward. In this position, the arm isflexed upward against the examiner's downward-directed force. Pain with thismaneuver is typical in patients with superior labral tears. The Jobe relocationtest causes posterior-superior shoulder pain in abduction-external rotationthat is relieved by posteriorly directed force on the proximal humerus. Painrelief by this maneuver suggests superior labral tear. Date of download: 12/31/2017 Copyright © 2000 American Medical Association. All rights reserved.
