The Superiority of Christ Hebrews 1:1-14 Christ Is God’s Spokesman. Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, having of old time spoken unto the fathers in the prophets by divers portions and in divers manners, hath at the end of these days spoken unto us in (his) Son …” Wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 2:6-7; John 16:13

The Superiority of Christ Hebrews 1:1-14 Christ Is Conqueror. Hebrews 1:2 “… whom he appointed heir of all things …” He is living. Revelation 1:5 He is a living ruler. Revelation 1:18 Overcame death. Revelation 3:21; Hebrews 2:14

The Superiority of Christ Hebrews 1:1-14 Christ Is Creator and Sustainer Hebrews 1:2 “… through whom also he made the worlds” Hebrews 1:3 “… and upholding all things by the word of his power …” Hebrews 1:10 “… And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning didst lay the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the works of thy hands.” cf. Muslims: Ridicule the thought of God having a Son. “They say: ‘(God) Most Gracious has begotten a son!’ Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous! At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains fall down in utter ruin, that they should invoke a son for (God) Most Gracious. For it is not consonant with the majesty of (God) Most Gracious that He should beget a son” (Qur’an, Sura 19:88-92).

Hebrews 1:3 “he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” The function of the priests in the Old Testament was to intercede with God on behalf of the people. cf. Hebrews 10:1-4 NOTE: Hebrews 10:11-12 Jesus SAT DOWN … Work was finished.

The Superiority of Christ Hebrews 1:1-14 Christ Is King. Hebrews 1:8 “but of the Son (he saith,) THY THRONE, O GOD, IS FOR EVER AND EVER; AND THE SCEPTRE OF UPRIGHTNESS IS THE SCEPTRE OF THY KINGDOM.” Only ONE King. 1 Timothy 6:15-16 “possesses immortality” Jesus is not a created being! King AND Priest. Zechariah 6:12-13

The Superiority of Christ Hebrews 1:1-14 Christ Is Worshiped. Hebrews 1:6 “And when he again bringeth in the firstborn into the world he saith, And LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM.” Angel rejected worship. Revelation 22:8-9 Peter rejected worship. Acts 10:25-26 Paul & Barnabas rejected worship. Acts 14:14-15 Jesus accepted worship. John 20:27-28

The Superiority of Christ Hebrews 1:1-14 He is God. He is Eternal. He is the only way we can have hope of salvation and eternal life. MAY WE EVER SERVE AND HONOR HIM!
