Performance Review Week 3 Day 3 Spring Quarter
Performance Review 1 Required (1): A chassis with wheels attached or a good mockup (15 points) Due at end of Class: Sketches of chassis, chassis requirements (30 points) Sketches must be three views in correct projection with scale and annotations A pictorial sketch to supplement above 3-view drawing will be looked upon favorably Requirements include estimated weight, identification of critical members Teams provide their choice of chassis material, motor, drive train, if known Instructor: This is the first performance review. Have the teams bring their chassis or mockup to the individual team review. If it is a mockup it should depict chassis, drive train, and pickup mechanism. If it is a chassis with wheels you should look for axles that are parallel and evidence that the teams have been working on establishing a rigid frame. This is the time to check the project notebook and look for meeting notes, find out where the teams are going to record their decisions and how they arrived at the decisions. This could be part of the meeting notes but should be clearly indicated. You also need to check the design schedule and see whether it is up to date and whether they have made good estimates of time required or not. Encourage them to make changes in the design schedule if they see that their original estimates are not in line with what is required. When checking the Project Notebook, have the teams figured out how many sections that they will need? Do they have dividers for the sections? This is the end of the third week and on Monday they will do their first peer review. Make sure that they are thinking about writing the reviews of their teammates so that the effect is constructive. Peer Evaluation This will be done on-line using an FEH web-based software product. The peer evaluation may be accessed from a link on your WebCT home page. You are giving your teammates a score and yourself a score for the first three weeks. Has everybody contributed 100%? If not, you can give a higher or lower percentage but it has to add up to 400 points for a four person team. Spring Quarter
Peer Evaluation Build on a person’s strengths. Be honest but constructive on what needs to be improved. After the on-line window closes, you can see the your own peer evaluation results. The results from this evaluation will not affect your grade. Evaluation is intended to give other team members feedback on their teamworking skills and effort Spring Quarter
Next Week By Sunday @ midnight – On-line peer evaluation Have members contributed 100% effort? Do members rate high or low on team skills? What are the strengths? What things need to be improved? Monday – Lecture on Progress Reports Wednesday – Lecture on Final Reports Also Wednesday – Programming for the robots Friday – Performance Review 2 – Chassis with motor able to go up the ramp Spring Quarter
