Tribes Hidatsa, Caracara, Comanche, Astana, Cree, Crow, Kiawah, Sioux, Caw, Kiowa and Mandan are some of the Great Plains Indians tribes. Some tribes are different in many ways. Lots of tribes are very si9malar, but they have at least one difference. Muckleshoot is one of the North West tribes.

Geography/Geology There were rainy forests placed in the North West. The Plains was covered with grass lands and a few mountains. The Black hills were high and steep. They lived by the Mississippi river. It was so that the Plains Indians lived in North America. The waves crashed against the shore. There were rainy forests placed in the North West. Giant waves crashed against the shore. According to the map, there were small islands. Wet forests were also found in the North West. In the North West there were beaches full of huge rocks.

Climate It was OVER one hundred degrees in the summer and UNDER zero degrees in the winter. When it rained it often FLOODED! The land was mild and it was hardly even cold or hot in the spring.

Resources The Glorious daisies would be full blume in the summer. Wolves would sneak up in the winter time to catch some prey. Lodge pole pines were used to build huts and wigwams for shelter. Pelicans were boiled for making medicine to cure sick Native Americans. Buffalo were hunted for their fur.

Shelter Teepees were used to live in, because it was shelter. Wigwams were shelter for the teepees and the teepees are shelter for the Native Americans. That is how wigwams are shelter.

Food Antelope was very popular. Buffalo were skinned and boiled, taking off the germs so they could eat it. Melted Fat was like a desert to them. Berries were ate on special actions. Elk was often ate in the Great Plains region. Pemmican was boiled then cooked to be made into a cure for the sick.

Transportation Dogs pulled wagons full with food. Men rode on horse back Bull boats were used to catch sea foods in rivers and lakes. Travois was when a Native American was carried on POLES!!! People were very used to canoes, because they were practically in them all day.

Interesting Facts Dogs for transportation?!!! Women are encharge of clothes. It flooded !!! In the North West, when a boy was twelve he would leave his family, scratch himself until he bled, danced crazily around a fire waiting for a Great Spirit to tell him his job!!!!! Many Indians in the North West killed whales!!!
