Today we are going to learn: Vocabulary to talk about people’s appearance Vocabulary to talk about people’s personality

In English you can say: He is my best friend. He is my close friend. She is a friend of mine.

What does he/she look like. (appearance) What is he/she like What does he/she look like? (appearance) What is he/she like? (personality) He is really nice, really open. He is very intelligent. And ambitious, too. He is tall and slim, his hair is fair and he’s got a modern hairstyle. He is well-dressed.

Talking about Appearance He is handsome. He’s got a modern hairstyle. He has a tattoo and he wears glasses. The verb to be He is nice. He is tall and slim. The verb have got He’s got a modern hairstyle. He’s got short fair hair. Present Simple He wears glasses. He doesn’t have any special features.

What does he look like? He is handsome. He is tall and slim. He’s got short fair hair with a modern hairstyle. He is well-dressed. He has got a nice smile.

What does she look like? She is beautiful and stylish. She’s got long fair hair. She wears glasses and she is well-dressed. She is in her fifties.

In English we say beautiful about a woman and handsome about a man. We can say good-looking about both men and women. We usually say pretty about young girls. We can say cute about a child.

Talking about Personality He is really nice, really open. He is very intelligent. And ambitious, too. There are many other words to describe personality. Try to think of one beginning with each letter of the alphabet.

Here are our suggestions: A – ambitious B – brave C – creative, clever D – decisive E – emotional, energetic F – friendly G – generous H – hard-working, honest

I – intelligent J – joyful K – kind L – loyal M – modest N – nice O – optimistic P – polite Q – quiet
