Language The words we say

Voice The way we say words, expressing feelings and personality and characters.

Accent A way of speaking particular to where the speaker is from.

Volume How loudly or quietly we speak.

Pace How fast or slowly we speak.

Clarity How clear the voice is.

Emphasis The stress put on a phrase or word.

Pause A break in speech.

Pitch How high or low the voice is.

Tone A change in voice to express emotions.

Articulation Clear pronunciation of words.

Fluency Natural flowing speech.

Intonation Rising or falling of the voice in speech.

Register Appropriate speech for the person being spoken to or the situation.

Voice questions An answer to a voice question must contain TERMS eg. Pace, Volume & Tone. with DESCRIPTION eg. Fast, Loud & Angry and REASON eg. In a hurry, trying to intimidate & getting frustrated. Always aim to use 3 voice terms in every answer.

An example… Q Describe how you would use your voice to play a market trader. A To play a market trader, my volume (1) would be loud, I would be shouting to attract attention. My pace(2) would be fast to make people think that I was selling something exciting, and I would put emphasis(3) on the price of the goods to persuade people to stop and buy. I would use a friendly tone (4) with customers to keep them coming back each week.

Remember Regularly revise and try to apply Voice vocabulary.
