Why I want to teach Jordan Thorburn EDUC 101 1

Intask Standard #3: Learning Environments 2 The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. Why I Want To Teach March 18th 2015 EDUC101 Introduction to Education This power point brings attention to what makes me want to become a teacher. From how I had no desire to the point I realized its something that I could do. It also demonstrates effective traits, my educational philosophy, and my contributions to the profession. To document my understanding of Learning Environments, I have selected a thematic plan and unit of study on teaching in Japan because the environments differ drastically from what I'm used too. I will intentionally build learner capacity to collaborate in person and on other platforms to apply effective interpersonal communication skills. 2

Reasons for wanting to teach Live in Japan Good with kids School motivation Making a difference Dive into culture Less shyness Self improvement 3

Effective teacher traits include… Connect personal level Patience Abstract thinking Excellent communicator Information clarity A caring yet firm attitude Love for teaching 4

Molding my personal being Work on my organization Timeliness Understanding children Personable presence Learn to deliver impact full lessons Finish school Learn a new language Live a new life 5

Student characteristics I expect Attitudes and behaviors range Some good, some not so much Quick and slow learners I expect that they will be somewhat excited to deal foreigner (Gaijin). Willing to learn 6

Understanding Life and community Obviously Japan will be quite different from a American setting Parents have been said to be much more focused on how teaching is done Kids are mostly willing to learn English as a second language Big city, big schedule Food Learning Japanese Balancing social life and work Depending upon school placement I could be in Osaka( preferred ), Nagoya, or Tokyo(ehhh not so much) 7
