Mini GCSE Project: ‘My Still-life’ @ home GCSE ‘Art & Design’ Coursework You can email your homework to: dmoore@waseleyhills.worcs.sch.uk
The Bigger Picture… What will I be creating for my ‘still-life’ themed homework project? This is the first ‘mini homework project’ that you have been set. It is designed to give you the experience of working on a complete project at home in preparation for the Year 11 Examination. It will develop the skills you need to be successful next year! You are going to create an A3 painting based on a still-life group of objects that you have collected and arranged yourself at home. Three out of the four assessment criteria will be covered during this project. You will mount and present (see right image) all of your work during the first few lessons back in January 2018.

Still life arrangement examples Before you start… You are to collect around 15 – 20 objects from around your home, then arrange them together to form a ‘still-life. You may want to theme your objects to a hobby or they can all be totally random. Try to create some height in your still-life and it works best when they are arranged on some sort of draped fabric, e.g. a bed sheet. Once you are happy with your still-life, take a series of photographs of it. You will need to work from these photographs over the next few weeks to complete each of the seven homework tasks contained in this PowerPoint. The next slide contains some examples of the type of pictures you should take. Still life arrangement examples
