What is a descriptive writing?

Descriptive Writing A description is a picture in words that helps the reader see, hear, taste, smell, or feel something that the writer has experienced.

Descriptive Writing What sense is being used in the following sentences? The puppy was black with three white paws and one white ear. It had a long tail with a white tip.

Lets Practice Leigh was writing a story about hiking in the mountains. She wants to include information that will help the readers picture the mountains. A) While I was hiking up the trail, I could see that the tall mountains were covered by lost of white clouds and green trees. B) The tall, grey mountains were covered in a cloak of leafy green tees and crowned with piles of fluffy white clouds.

Let’s look at another one Allen is writing a paragraph about the beach. He wants to include specific details that will help his readers picture the beach. A) The beach has lots of sand and water that stretches on for miles and is sometimes very loud. B) The sand is white and rough at the beach. C) At the beach, the ocean is blue and foamy.
