TEQIP-III : IMPLEMENTATION OF AICTE MANDATE 14th March 2017 Perspective Plan & NEETI Mandatory Induction Training to newly admitted students to reinforce fundamental concepts and language skills Curriculum Revision: AICTE Model Curriculum; Constitute subject wise Industry Consultation Committee (ICC) for examining existing curriculum and making changes every year (December each year) Mandatory internship (4 to 8) weeks in industry for each UG students Industry Readiness: To impart technical and soft skills required for industry; (managerial, entrepreneurial , leadership, communication, team work etc) Promoting Innovation/Start-up: Formation of club, participation in Hackathon Refresher Course for Teachers: Through SWAYAM portal; participation of 50% faculty is mandatory Exam Reforms: Final examination shall test understanding of the concept and skills rather than subject knowledge

Induction Programme: Solution University Role: Revise academic calendar of the year so as to accommodate 2 weeks induction program for first year students Consideration of the activity in affiliation process Identify mentor faculties in every affiliated institutes (1:20) Training of faculty mentors from affiliated institutes by experts identified by IIT BHU Induction programme for first year students by faculty mentors Universal Human Values Local Visits Physical activities (through physical instructor, senior students, expert coaches) Art and craft training (through art instructor, senior students) Motivational Guest lectures (by eminent sociologists, NGO etc.) Institutions Role: Faculty mentors to Identify deficiencies in their students about conceptual knowledge in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry subjects & Communication Skills through survey or skill test Proficiency module as per the requirements of student (own faculty with honorarium/ hired experts)

Innovation & Start-Up: Solution University Role: University “Start-up unit”: Chairman Hon’ Vice-chancellor ‘Need of Hour’ based Curriculum motivating students to generate innovative ideas Sponsoring Competitions: Idea stage, prototype stage, business plan, etc. every month Incentivisation through prizes, academic credits, appreciation, attendance relaxation etc. E-summits, conferences, seminars and other Entrepreneurship fests (organising) Institutions Role: Appoint faculty coordinator/advisor Establishing Start-up cell/club with participation of students Expert Lectures promoting innovation Identify location for Innovation Facilitate awareness drive/ workshops about the idea of ‘Innovation’ & ‘Start-up’ Identification of different problems in local/national areas to be worked upon (Identification of Innovation/start-up ideas) Motivation of students through local entrepreneurs Setting up of Tinkering Labs in institutes.

Revision of Curriculum: University Role: The mandate consists of 2 components i.e. consideration of AICTE model curriculum for immediate implementation and appropriate revision through industry consultation committee. Introduce choice based credit system (CBCS) Organizing workshops for faculty so as to implement AICTE model curriculum. Deliberations on feasibility of implementing model curriculum and incorporating appropriate changes on the basis local needs. Considering interlinking of GoI initiatives with curriculum (Digital India, Make in India, Start-up etc) Identify industry experts for formation of subject wise Industry Consultation Committee (ICC) . Communication & follow up with identified members for their acceptance. Suggested functions: Revision of curriculum Vetting of PEO, PO, CO Activities for industry institute interaction Guidance/assistance on internships and placement Examining AICTE model curriculum for its suitability of industry demand in ICC (December every year)

SWAYAM: (MOOCS & Digital Learning) & SWAYAM PRABHA A group of 32 DTH channels - telecasting educational programmes on 24X7 using GSAT-15 satellite. Daily new content for at least (4) hours - repeated 5 times, allowing to choose the time of convenience. Contents by NPTEL, IITs. Curriculum-based course contents at UG/PG level Certification-ready courses, offering MOOCs courses. SWAYAM Bridge digital divide for students who hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution. An indigenous IT platform hosting 695 courses, NPTEL courses to be accessed by anyone, anywhere. Courses are interactive, prepared by the best teachers in the country, free of cost. SWAYAM courses in 4 quadrants – Video lecture, Specially prepared reading material that can be downloaded/printed Self-assessment tests through tests and quizzes An online discussion forum for clearing the doubts

SWAYAM & SWAYAM PRABHA: Solution University Role Introducing flexibility of opting for credit transfer (As per UGC guidelines, 20% credit courses can be done through SWAYAM portal) If credit transfer not possible, at least 1 course done by students through SWAYAM (Non-credit) Development of online courses for uploading it on SWAYAM Establishment of studio for developing TEL courses based on university curriculum. Ensuring during affiliation visit Institution Role Student & faculty registration on SWAYAM portal (https://swayam.gov.in) Registration of faculties on SWAYAM for course certification.. Registration of at least 50% faculty every year is mandatory. (2000Courses) Appearing for examination & certification. Instructing institutes to set infrastructure for SWAYAM Prabha and establish in Library (TV set with setup box)

Mandatory Internship: (Industry Institute Interaction) University Role Revise curriculum to accommodate compulsory internship in all engineering degree programs in the form of credit course. Prepare academic calendar so as to complete examinations in engineering degree programs before the end of April every year Prepare discipline specific list of industries/ companies/ organisations (small scale, MSME, large scale, Internshala etc.) and make it available to all affiliated institutes Prepare MIS for student information of all affiliated institutes Communication with the industries/ organisations/ companies with institute details and student profiles. MoU/ Agreement signing with the industries Awareness workshops for students to inform them regarding the different career paths. Arrange industry conclave Institution Role Institutes to update their website with all the details of students (contact info, CV, performance ) To support university in the above activities

Activities Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Revise curriculum to accommodate compulsory internship in all engineering degree programs    √ √ Prepare academic calendar so as to complete examinations in engineering degree programs before the end of April every year Identifying faculty coordinator for ATU & affiliated institutions Prepare discipline specific list of industries/ companies/ organisations (small scale, MSME, large scale, Internshala etc.) at lead centers Updating website with all details of students (contact info, CV, performance etc.), prepare T & P brochure Communication with the industries/ organisations/ companies with institute details and student profiles. Communication with Board of Apprenticeship Training for exploring additional avenues. MoU/ Agreement signing with the industries Awareness workshops for students to inform them regarding the different career paths. Arrange industry conclave Categorize students for internships based on interest (through a survey). Display of allocation of industry for internships (with proportionate funding) Issue of letters/NOC to the students and copy to industry. √ 

Mandatory Accreditation: (Reforms/ Governance) University Role Amend ordinances for making accreditation mandatory. (mandatory accreditation of 50% courses of affiliated institutions) Revise affiliation norms and formats through statutory authorities so as to make accreditation mandatory, failing which affiliation may not be granted Identifying faculty coordinator for institute as well as for each eligible department Conduct workshop for faculty on accreditation procedures & Norms Design & implement different formats/ rubrics for student assessment with respect to program outcomes Incorporate accreditation criteria in academic monitoring mechanism/ affiliation process Making mandatory for appointment of faculty as per AICTE norms

Examination and MIS Institution Role University Role Declare final semester examination results before the start of next academic year. The results of examination available on the website MIS capable of producing annual reports against prescribed indicators Result analysis Placements GATE appearing/qualification Accreditation Database of research proposals, findings, Autonomy increasing the number of affiliated colleges which have autonomous status from UGC Institution Role To support university in the above activities

Take Away Project for affiliated institutions; incidental benefits to university students Formation of advisory committee for implementation of Project. Nomination of Lead centres (Hub & stoke) for internship; curriculum revision; industry readiness. Collection of Baseline data on KPI’s & DLI’s (by December End) No transfer of funds to affiliated institutions. All assets in the name of the University (ATU). All bills/invoice for activities conducted for institutions shall be in the name of University.
