Our Basic Beliefs . . . Interscholastic athletics exist outside the school day and curriculum and remain there as voluntary, extracurricular programs in which qualifying students earn the privilege of participation.

Our Basic Beliefs . . . Interscholastic athletics are secondary to the academic program of Dearborn High School . . . And provide opportunities to develop loyalty and school spirit, to practice teamwork, hard work, discipline, sacrifice, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Our Basic Beliefs . . . Our emphasis is on participation by many, not by few, and on academic scholarship at Dearborn High School, not athletic scholarships to college.

Athletic Offerings In 2017-2018, we will sponsor 51 athletic teams 26 varsity level teams, 19 junior varsity level teams, and 6 freshman level teams at Dearborn High School 3 co-operative programs with Edsel Ford – competitive cheerleading, ice hockey and gymnastics.

Athletic Eligibility Student-athletes must meet all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) eligibility requirements. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum 2.000 Grade Point Average (GPA) to remain eligible. Grades are checked at the end of each marking period – approximately every 6 weeks. The next marking period of 2017-2018 ends on Friday, December 1st. All parents and athletes should be familiar with the Athletic Code of Conduct.

Athletic Physical New physical form adopted in 2017-2018 – MHSAA approved including heart-check information and follow up. Required for participation in high school athletics. After April 15th, good for the following school year.

Activity Fees and Passes --Activity Fee eliminated in 2017-2018!!! --Admission will be charged for almost all athletic events. Exceptions: Tennis, Cross Country, Baseball/Softball, and Golf. --Family Passes will be $100 and cover admission for parents and middle school aged and younger children in the same household. --Student Passes will be $50 and cover admission for high school students (with ID). --Punch Cards will be $25 and offer 10 admissions for the cardholder and any guests.

Athletic Department Information blog.dearbornschools.org/dhsathletics1/ Important information related to Dearborn High School athletics – contact information for coaches, downloadable forms, schedules, scores, special events, banquets, etc. @DHSAthletics1 on Twitter Almost daily updates on the goings-on in the DHS Athletic Department.

Transportation On occasion, we will not provide transportation to away events. Typically Edsel Ford, Fordson, Crestwood, Annapolis, Robichaud, or Saturday or other non-school day events. Teams will meet at the site or carpool from school. Primary concern – safety. Secondary concern – cost savings.

We will play in the “East Division” with Fordson, Belleville, Wayne Memorial, Westland John Glenn, Livonia Franklin, Livonia Churchill, and Livonia Stevenson.
