STAAR EOC Testing Lone oak high school

What are STAAR EOC Assessments? Who takes them? The STAAR EOC (end of course) assessments measure students’ academic performance in core high school courses (Algebra I, English I, English II, biology, U.S. history). These assessments became part of the graduation requirements beginning with the freshman class of 2011–2012. Algebra 1 – Freshman English 1 – Freshmen Biology – Freshmen English 2- Sophomore U.S. history – Junior

What are Staar eoc assessments? Paper and online administrations are available for the STAAR EOC assessments. However, LOHS only participates in online administrations. Students are required to take the STAAR EOC assessments for courses in which they’re enrolled as part of their graduation requirements.

How are the tests scored? A scale score is used for all STAAR EOC assessments. A scale score is a statistic that allows a comparison of scores by adjusting for variations in the difficulty of the forms used in different administrations. Thus, the scale score can be used to determine whether a student achieved satisfactory performance or advanced performance, to compare one student to another taking the same assessment, and to compare cohorts of students taking the same assessment in different years.

What are the 4 scoring catEgories? Masters Grade Level (Pass) students are on-track for college and career readiness. They demonstrate their mastery of the course knowledge and skills. Meets Grade Level (Pass) students are prepared to progress to the next grade. They have strong knowledge of course content. Approaches Grade Level (pass) students need additional support in the coming year. They have some knowledge of course content but may be missing critical elements. Did Not Meet Grade Level (fail) students may need significant support in the coming year. They do not demonstrate basic understanding of course expectations.

What happens if a student fails an eoc? ALL TEXAS GRADUATES MUST PASS ALL 5 TESTS BEFORE THEY CAN GRADUATE. If THEY FAIL A TEST, THEY CAN RETAKE IT AS MANY TIMES AS IT IS OFFERED TO TRY AND PASS.

When are the tests ? December 4-8, 2017 – all 5 tests- Retakes for failures April 10, 2018 – English 1 – regular test Administration April 12, 2018 – English 2 – Regular Test administration May 7-11, 2018 – Algebra 1, Biology & U.S. History – Regular Test administration June 25-29, 2018 – all 5 tests - retakes for failures
