How to prep for a Unit Essay and Exam 101

Step 1: 2 weekends before the exam 2 weekends before the exam (see calendar) you should take about 1 hour to go over your Unit Guide and create your personal yin/yang. What do you know? (this is your yang) What do you not know? (this is your yin) What haven’t you read about yet? What are you unsure about?

Step 2: the week before the exam The next week (the week before the exam), take 15 minutes every day to look up and study the “yin” items you marked and anything else that you’re unsure about.

Step 3: the weekend before the exam This is when you should spend the most time studying for the exam! At study group meeting/at your own study time: go over the entire unit guide again paying attention to things you still may need to improve knowledge base on, look over class notes, look at The Princeton Review: Cracking the AP World History Exam for sample questions This study session should be at least 1 hour, no longer than 2 hours necessary

Step 4: the night before the essay and or exam Relax!! Do NOT attempt to “cram” all it does is stress you out and that makes your brain go into overdrive Take about 30 minutes to look over your Unit Guide/class notes/whatever you feel “weak” on Get a good nights sleep! In the morning, eat a good breakfast
