Discipline and Character Students will understand the importance of good character traits in the classroom as well as in the workplace. Students will learn to: maintain honest behavior in all situations be trustworthy, reliable and dependable in all responsibilities demonstrate self-discipline and self-responsibility. Employer Expectations In return for salary or wages and fringe benefits paid to employers: Expect employees to work together toward achieving the objectives of the company Expect employees to have certain desirable traits that will help them to perform their jobs well so that the company can succeed CHARACTER TRAITS   An employer expects employees to work together toward achieving the objectives of the company. The wise employee who is interested in having a good relationship with an employer will try to help the employer achieve success. An employer, in return for salary or wages and fringe benefits paid to employees, expects employees to develop certain desirable traits that will help them to perform their jobs well so that the company can succeed. Some of these traits include the following: Loyalty Honesty Trustworthiness Dependability Reliability Initiative Self-discipline Self-responsibility Employer Expectations

Good Character Traits Some of these traits include the following: Loyalty Honesty Trustworthiness Dependability Reliability Initiative Self-discipline Trustworthiness Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation If you are trustworthy, you are honest, loyal, and reliable—you do what you say you’ll do. You have the courage to do the right thing, and you don’t deceive, cheat or steal. Respect Treat others with respect • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements Showing respect means being considerate of others and tolerant of differences. It also means using good manners. You make decisions that show you respect your health and the health of others. You treat people and property with care. Responsibility Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes • Set a good example for others Being responsible means using self-control—you think before you act and consider the consequences. You are accountable for your choices and decisions—you don’t blame others for your actions. Responsible people try to do their best, and they persevere even when things don’t go as planned. Fairness Play by the rules • Take turns and share • Be open-minded; listen to others • Don’t take advantage of others • Don’t blame others carelessly • Treat all people fairly If you are fair, you play by the rules, take turns, and share. You are open-minded, and you listen to others. You don’t take advantage of others, and you don’t assign blame to others. Caring Be kind • Be compassionate and show you care • Express gratitude • Forgive others • Help people in need A caring person is kind and compassionate.
