Happy Birthday Matthew, Olivia B and Tilly G! EYFS – SUMMER 1 NEWSLETTER Welcome to your Early Years newsletter… I hope you’ve all had a fantastic Easter break. We are ready and raring to go in EYFS, and I’m excited to get the summer term underway. Like every other term, we have an action-packed few weeks planned and our new, main topic this half term is Magic! We are going to kick-start this topic with our Hook Day on Monday 24th April. See below for more information. Please remember that we operate an open-door policy so if you have a query or concern, do get in touch. Also, to find out more about what we are doing in class, please feel free to follow me on Twitter - @MissHodgson1 Many thanks, Miss Hodgson Happy Birthday Matthew, Olivia B and Tilly G! Your EYFS team: Miss Hodgson Mrs Ingham Miss Fourie Throughout this half term, one of the children’s PE sessions will be taught by Rossendale Leisure Trust. We will also continue to take the children to Forest School with Mr Claxton. We will practise our physical skills in the outdoor learning environment, as well as continuing to develop our climbing skills during our lessons with Mr Bradshaw. In maths this half term, we will continue to work on number recognition, ordering and recording, as well as subtraction and addition. We will also learn about distance, time and money. I will be sending home some maths challenges for you to help your child complete. Please provide us with feedback on how your child gets on with each task. Notes… PE will now take place on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school every week. Please send your child’s book bag into school every day. Home reading books will be changed every Monday. Please read with your child each evening and sign their reading record. Maths challenges will be sent home each week – please support your child with this home learning and provide feedback on how they do. Be sure to check our class page on the website for more information regarding EYFS. As mentioned above, our new topic is Magic. We will enjoy creating potions, reading and discussing magic-themed stories, and tackling a range of magic-related activities during continuous provision. Joining us for our Hook Day on Monday 24th April is Wacky Woody, a local magician who is going to take us on a trip around the world, showing us a magic trick from each continent.
