Introduction to the Internet Hotline Center in Japan
What We Do What the Center Do Statistical Figure of the Hotline The Internet Hotline Center Japan accepts reports of illegal and harmful content on the Internet from the public. It analyzes all of received reports. Illegal and harmful information are forwarded to the National Police Agency, and then to ISPs for removal. Statistical Figure of the Hotline Over 170,000 reports were received in 2011. Illegal information was over 35,000 and harmful information was about 10,000. Operational Guidelines The operational guidelines which were prepared by Scholars, Internet Industry Associations, the National Police Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications are used as a reference in judgement of reported content.

Two meetings & training courses in a year in Europe (Why in Europe because co-funded by the EU) APIH (Asia Pacific Information Hotline Network) A kind of Asia Pacific regional network of the INHOPE Korea, Taiwan and Japan are members (recruiting new members) A meeting once a year in turn

Online Knowledge Examination for Internet Rules and Manners Target: From elementary school fourth graders to junior high-school third graders. Goal: To measure objectively knowledge of rules and manners for safe utilization of the Internet. Method: For a question making a choice in answer candidates. Questions: 30 questions based on content of “The Internet Rules and Manners Guideline for Children.” Fee: Free. Successful applicants may request a certificate card with a fee. Achievements: 145 thousands mainly junior high-school students took this examination. Child Version
