Alcohol, Gambling, Censorship Protestants- Wanted to ban alcohol Catholics- Saw no harm in responsible drinking, part of inherited culture Temperance Campaigns- Hotels closed at 6pm until 1950s Women’s Christian Temperance Union formed Gambling restriced throughout 19th century Censorship- Sexual Behaviour based on morality, books, plays etc
