Enrolled-Traveler meeting

11.13.17 Enrolled-traveler Meeting Agenda Welcome and snacks Trip Updates: Pre-Departure Meeting Date Recommended Packing List #holidaygifts Sweatshirt Ordering Roommate Requests Get-to-know-you mingling activity Online Survey

Trip Updates Flight details and hotels will be available to you about 45 days before we depart. I’ll email you as soon as I have that information. We will have a mandatory Pre-Departure Meeting—you must attend with a parent—on Wednesday, February 7th at 6PM. You’ll get a save-the-date reminder for this meeting in December We recommend that you check your passport now and be sure that it is valid for six months after we return. At the February meeting, you’ll bring copies of your passport picture pages for the chaperones.

Sample Packing List for Your Main Suitcase If you can't carry it yourself, you have packed too much! Pack comfortable clothing for your trip. In general, bring about half the things you think you'll need. Battery-operated travel alarm clock AND watch. A winter coat, gloves, a scarf, and a warm hat. Warm layers, such as sweaters, flannel shirts, or sweatshirt. Shoes for walking and for dressier occasions. Comfort over style, please. I recommend warm boots for this trip. Pairs of jeans. You're guaranteed to need them, and you can wear them almost daily if you need to. Pair of nicer pants. These can rotate in to replace jeans or can be used to dress up. Skirt or dress for women, and collared shirt or nice sweater for men, for the departure dinner, if you’re the sort of person who likes to dress up for departure dinners. Shirt that can be worn with trousers or khakis. T-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, long-sleeve shirts, etc. Toiletries and/or cosmetics Travel umbrella or rain coat Over-the-counter medications as needed (aspirin, Imodium, etc; Band-Aids, Neosporin, or other blister protection, etc.) Keep medication you're currently using in your carry-on bag and let your group leader know what you are carrying. Outlet plug and current converter. Your US electronics will not be able to plug directly into European outlets without a converter. A list that includes your passport number and emergency contact information for both the group and your parents.

Sweatshirt Ordering Gray Nike sweatshirts with white lettering $50 per sweatshirt, including tax and shipping Indicate you want one today on the paper form—bring a check to Mr. Myers when he sends you a slip to confirm your order. Check to see your name is spelled correctly on the next slide Delivered to you (hopefully) at our pre-departure meeting

Roommate Selection: Bonding and requests For about ten minutes, go around and meet people and get them to sign your chart in the appropriate boxes. Winners (the most signatures) get the candy of their choice, to be delivered in class to you this week. Using what you’ve just learned about each other, go to the trip website and fill out the Roommate Request Survey.
