 Happy Tuesday!  Remember Entrance Procedures Have all materials ready at your table. Be in your seat by the tardy bell! Have you finished your “One Pager” about yourself for your Bellwork Journal? 3. Did you turn in your school supplies? No? Well………let’s finish it now then.  A1

I.A.N. – Inter-Active Notebook It will consist of daily Cornell Notes, Handouts, Assignments, Labs, Homework, and Quizzes. Do NOT throw anything away unless I have said to do so. We will go into great detail as to how this is set up and maintained. The I.A.N. is a powerful tool to help you be successful. Without it, you will most definitely fail this class. If at any time during the six weeks you misplace your I.A.N., you will have to come before or after school to recopy the whole thing and repeat the missing work. Expect surprise I.A.N. checks twice a Six-Weeks. (Counts as major Quiz Grades)

Lab Safety Rules: Dress for lab Personal protective equipment Pull back long hair. Wear closed-toe shoes during a lab. If you wear contacts, it is best to wear glasses in the lab. If you wear contacts, be sure to tell your teacher. Personal protective equipment Always wear your lab safety goggles and lab apron when in the lab. Chemical safety Do not directly sniff any substance in a lab. Always waft! Let’s do it together now….WAFT!!!

If there is an emergency or something is spilled or glass is broken, tell your teacher immediately

Fire Emergency Evacuation Plan Follow the route your teacher describes. Gather at your assigned area when outside. Look for your teacher, holding up a sign with his/her room number. Remain with your teacher until told to go inside (attendance will be taken). When we return to the building, go directly back to class.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?! With your partner, look at the picture of the lab. Find as many things wrong with it as possible. When you have done that, each person will create a “Lab Safety One-Pager” to correct one of the “wrongs” that we discussed in class today. Your One-Pager must include the following: Using only the FRONT side of a sheet of computer paper you need to demonstrate your understanding of lab safety. Your page must include: At least 6 different colors (black, white, and grey don’t count) A title and symbolic border 3 graphics of safety equipment 1 bad scenario AND the solution 3 key terms and brief definitions This page must also include a poem, rap or song about LAB SAFETY. Each letter of the topic will start a new line: Lab Safety, Lab Safety Always on my mind Being a responsible classmate Surely is worth my time
