“single point of failure” How do you define “single point of failure” First level (Arial 26) Second level (Arial 24) Third level (Arial 20) Fourth level (Arial 18) Formatting Slide is set to automatically format. Use this slide as your starting point. Do not go below fourth level bullet Paragraph spacing is set at “before 6pt” Use the designated bullet style for each level Paragraphs are formatted with hanging indents Additional layouts available under “Slides” “Layout” or “New Slide” in the tool bar

Single Point of Failure If you have only one person who is proficient in JUMS in your school program, then that person is a single point of failure. If that person suddenly has to take an extended leave or something unfortunate happens to them, your unit would not be able to complete the management tasks required in JUMS due to lack of knowledge and practice. If all JROTC instructors maintain proficiency in JUMS, our system will continue to function at some level of proficiency without the original resource. Our JUMS training is building redundancy into JROTC staff and eliminating the potential for a single point of failure.

What is the purpose of JUMS? The JROTC Unit Management System or JUMS is a database management program utilized by HQ, USACC, JROTC and 4000+ JROTC Instructors nationwide, and overseas to manage, document, and track JROTC program requirements, submit annual program reports, and manage 300,000+ JROTC Cadets, records, awards, fitness, promotions, uniforms, instructional materials, school, and community co-curricular event participation. JROTC Instructors are responsible for managing and maintaining unit/Cadet information in JUMS.

Classroom Expectations Hands on learning environment People learn best when they are actively engaged in their own learning. As Confucius said nearly 2,500 years ago, “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” Stay with the instructor & class Questions on current topic – no wandering off topic No “whining” about JUMS – Stay constructive & focused…I didn’t bring any cheese
